The simulations were not that bad, however, you cannot memorize the answers. You have to get an understanding of what they are looking for. I am happy I knew about the types of viruses and the differences between whaling, spear fishing, spam, hoax and pharming, etc... You need to know what type of log messages and exploits, as well as what they look like. Examples are SQL, XML, AD, etc. If possible have practice looking at those and having at least attempted to have real examples. I didn't, but it would have helped.
All in all, per suggestions of CompTIA, know what the acronyms are and how they are related, a general idea of what they are. Group them by categories which will help you to identify them by categories (cryptography, hashing, certificates, authentication, access control models, agreement types, networking protocols, etc. see objectives).
